In 1939, General Paulino Santos led the relocation of Christian settlers from Luzon. Before the city got its name, many names were already given to it and one of those names is Dadiangas. The term Dadiangas is still used in the city today. The Municipality of General Santos was converted into a city on 1968. After years of inauguration, General Santos City is now an industrialized and urbanized city. Almost all kinds of tuna eaten by Filipinos came from GenSan. Because of this, General Santos City is said to be the “Tuna Capital of the Philippines”. The city celebrates a Tuna Festival during the month of August to September. General Santos City came up with the theme “Magandang Gensan” which refers to the facets, faces, and places of the city.
Doon Po Sa Amin was introduced by our teacher and we were grouped together. Each group consists of eight members. After being grouped, everyone shared ideas about topics to be chosen. General Santos City was chosen to be the place of our study. Jobs were assigned to the members during and after conducting interviews in each place that we would visit. The group decided to go to the celebration of Tuna Festival last September 3 and 5. We gathered pictures and video clips and we also did our write ups. The group decided to proceed to the next and last place in the City that we are featuring, the Tiongson Arcade together with our teacher. Again, and we gathered pictures, video clips and facts about the place. We also made the write ups. We started making and compiling the requirements for our blog. We added the videos that we have collected and the pictures that we made in slide shows, as well as the write ups that we formulated.
